Spring is here, and 2008 has started off with a bang! I know it has been quite a long time since I updated, so there are quite a few things to cover. Let's start with the most random news: Around the Bend Farm now has a pet deer. Last week, a male black tailed deer appeared on the property, and he hasn't strayed far since then. He is obviously accustomed to people, and he comes right up to all of the family members. He is pictured above with my Grandpa, who he is especially fond of. We're not quite sure what to do with him, but the horses don't mind him and he is sure cute to have around!
On a more important front, I will be graduating from UC Davis in March, with my BA in Anthropology. It has been a long road filled with many bumps along the way, and I am extremely excited to be completing this goal and receiving my degree. Thank you so much to all of my family and friends who have supported me through this endeavor!
On the horse front, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to ride for Symphony Farms, in Auburn, CA. Margaret Carrera and Phil Joffe breed Spanish horses for dressage, and have been letting me ride their talented horses. My favorite guy, Devoto XVII, is pictured above. During the weekend of Feb 15th and 16th, I will be riding him in a clinic they are hosting with Kristina Harrison-Naness. Kristina trains their Grand Prix stallion, Rociero XV, and I am extremely excited to be given the chance to clinic with her!
My horses are doing quite well, and enjoying the sunshine that we have right now. I plan to start Savannah as soon as I am done with school, as I believe she is now ready for a job as a riding horse.
